About Europa, winner of the Golden Melody award for Best New Artist,
By day, Europa Huang is a certified occupational therapist. By night, he plays the guitar and sings his own original compositions. In 2006, his song “Over the Way” was chosen by the Association of Music Workers in Taiwan as one of the top 10 songs of the year, and the following year his album of the same name won him the Golden Melody award for Best New Artist. Perhaps due to his work as an occupational therapist, or perhaps because he is motivated to help people, his music, unlike that of many other young songwriters, is not full of griping and moaning about insignificant problems, but rather is full of observations about and concern for people and life in general. This album honestly describes the contradictions of growing up and the anxieties young people feel as they become adults. Fresh-sounding vocals, mature compositions, and compelling subject matter combine to make this a highly enjoyable album worth many repeated listens.
