Hsu Ching-yuan first encountered the teachings of the Buddha as a youth. Over a decade ago, he shifted from popular music and New Age music to creating Buddhist compositions, beginning a new career as a producer of Buddhist music. Beginning in 2000, he released the well-received Buddhist music albums Mantra of Joy, Mantra of Hope, Invisible Mountain, Sweet Melody Of Joyful Aspiration, and Liberation Through Hearing, in which he combined the practice of Buddhism, meditation, chanting and music appreciation in a rich musical blend that was unique in the world of Buddhist music.
