Kon Kon Ba is a West African drum family ensemble from Taiwan, and the name of the group originates from West African music, ¡§konkonba¡¨, which means the infinitely wise ¡§great nature¡¨. The ensemble is based on djembe and dunun, and is also accompanied by djabara and human vocals. Their Manding musical style is one that makes both the drummers and listeners feel happy and exhilarated
The ensemble leader, A-Dian, is the first child of his family, and is a person of artistic characteristics and loves to live freely. Due to disagreements with his parents, he decided to leave home. A few years ago, his second younger brother died of cancer, and his other younger siblings also left home. Three of his nephews and nieces together with two of his younger sister¡¦s children joined the ensemble, and together, they started to perform on the streets. Through African percussion music, they have rediscovered a sense of family. In the recent years, Kon Kon Ba has worked hard and with media exposures, their touching family story has inspired many, and their story is also an example that shows the great potential for music to inspire and empower.
